About Us

How it began…

I had been working in the travel industry just under 10 years when the epidemic took over our lives. It’s was during this disruption that fuelled the little voice in my head, nudging me every day…what if, what if soon, what if now?

Unofficially nicknamed the ‘dog whisperer’, my love for dogs runs in my veins. It’s this deep love and commitment to animal welfare that gave me the confidence (and leap of faith) in making my dream of starting a local grooming business turn into a reality. From an idea that flourished during the pandemic, Hamlet Hounds was born.

I myself being born and bred in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne, I wanted to offer a local service that caters to the surrounding fur-parents in my community. Local ethos is everything to me and opening a salon within our Thornbury hamlet will only add to our thriving suburb and surrounds.

Why we do what we do…

Our dogs are a special part of our family, they give us an abundance of love, joy and company. We cherish their wellbeing, which is why dog grooming is a service that every owner should consider.

Dogs need to be groomed just like humans need to bathe. In fact, we recommend that your fur kids be groomed every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the size and needs of your dog.

Grooming not only keeps your pooch looking good, it will keep them feeling good and allow them to live a long life.

What we believe in…

Happy dogs make for happy dog owners and happy dogs deserve the best treatment available.

At Hamlet Hounds our mission is to improve the appearance, health and wellbeing of every dog put in our care. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, safe and stress-free environment, supported by quality and professional services every time.

Our love of pampering our pets is growing and professional dog groomers and dog owners should be ‘partners in pet care’. We should work together to ensure the best outcome for our pups.

The Paw behind the Hamlet Hound logo

Peppa was Sarah’s first dog when reaching adulthood and she couldn’t have asked for a better four legged partner in crime. Typical Labrador, Peppa was a cheeky pup who turned into a super friendly, outgoing and sweet natured girl. Her love and affection towards everyone she met was endless and she remained that way till the very end.

Just months after her 14th birthday in 2021, the sweet girl left this earth. As a reminder of her beautiful soul, Peppa’s inked paw print is the trademark icon for Hamlet Hounds.
